‘Tiny Monster’geranium (G. sanguineum x G. psilostemon, cranesbill)
‘Tiny Monster’geranium (G. sanguineum x G. psilostemon, cranesbill)
This small perennial grows about 6-12 inches high and will spread out 1-2 feet with trailing stems, which makes it attractive in containers, hanging baskets, or next to rock walls. Medium water, low maintenance and showy flowers attract butterflies. It even tolerates rabbits and deer. Usually blooming from spring to summer, the pink flowers are about 1.5 inches wide and have dark red veins. Leaves have an attractive shape and often turn purple or bronze in the fall. Full sun to part shade
Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Tolerates some drought, but prefers and spreads best in moist, soils with good drainage. Deadheading not necessary. Remove trailing stems to control spread. This hybrid doesn’t produce seed. In hot summer areas, foliage may die back slightly after flowering in hot summer climates. Prune lightly to perk it up and it will come right back.
